Flat inspections

I find it somewhat irritating that the residence in which I stay enforces flat inspections. I mean, I understand that they want to make sure that we're taking care of the place but it's disturbing my poker.
Consequently, my last session ended down $0.05. I probably should have stopped anyway, as it was 261 hands. I was down the whole session and just kept getting angled by nobs.
The inspection wasn't so bad though. The first thing she said was, 'Sorry, did I wake you?'. I like the fact that it's not assumed that I'd be awake at half 3 in the afternoon. I thought it'd take longer. She said I have to clean my toilet bowl though. Eurgh.
Anyway, I must bring all my non-readers up to date. I've decided that I really can't be arsed to talk through every session anymore. I'm finally playing enough to call myself a poker player. Well I'm not but I'm playing more.
Firstly, I've made over $10 in November and I'm quite pleased about that. Presently, I'm up $11.31. Hopefully I'll be able to get over $20 by the end of the month. I was up $9.26 after my last post, but a $2.04 losing session hindered my progress. More of my sessions have been somewhat closer to break even as well and I think I'm getting closer to my true win-rate.
Here are a few hands I thought it worth mentioning, mainly for my entertainment.

PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.04 BB (8 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
Preflop: Psychomobil is Button with A, A UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Psychomobil raises, 1 fold, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls

Outcome: Psychomobil won $0.22, BB won $0.23, MP1 won $0.23
(I feel like the victim here as I won $0.01 less than the other two. Plus, I started as a massive favourite obviously.)

PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.04 BB (9 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

BTN and CO had it coming for flat calling with their preflop monsters.

PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.04 BB (8 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
Preflop: Psychomobil is SB with A, A UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 (poster) checks, MP2 calls, 2 folds, Psychomobil raises, 1 fold, UTG calls, 1 fold, MP2 calls
Flop: (8 SB) 9, 4, A (3 players) Psychomobil bets, UTG calls, 1 fold
Turn: (5 BB) K (2 players) Psychomobil bets, UTG calls
River: (7 BB) J (2 players) Psychomobil checks, UTG checks
Results: Psychomobil had A, A (three of a kind, Aces). UTG had Q, A (flush, Ace high).
Outcome: UTG won $0.27
Firstly, I like the way that UTG checked the nuts on the river here. Secondly, this hand had a good consequence. I was considerably tilted by it, being the nth time I was fourflushed (where n>5) in the session and I proceeded to steam call the next hand down.

River: (5.75 BB) 10 (2 players) MP2 bets, Psychomobil raises, MP2 calls
Results: Psychomobil had J, A (straight, Ace high). MP2 mucked A, Q (one pair, Queens).
Outcome: Psychomobil won $0.38
So I won more than I lost.

Thursday 10 November 2011

Sorry Doyle

I'd like to apologise to Doyle Brunson this time.
Well there's no real reason to apologise because I'm playing limit, not no limit and it's difficult to fold to a 4-bet in this game, if you're the 3-bettor.
Personally, I hate AQ too. But I'm liking it today. I guess I'll come to that later.
Firstly, I ought to address yesterday. It started good with stupid opposition and some quite amusing, albeit kind of sick, hands. In one, I flopped the nuts with 9s, after a 4-bet preflop with 2 callers, it was capped on the flop and the turn, and then my unfortunate friend only called on the river when he realised his bottom set might not be good.
I finished up $1.00 from 113 hands, rather similarly to the last two.
Unfortunately, the idiocy of my opponents was not to my advantage the second time and I made only $0.40 from 175 hands, when it should have been more if EV would have had anything to say about it.
I was probably tilted for the 3rd session of the day and wasn't paying attention entirely. However, I also didn't catch a winning hand until the 50th, which was a split thanks to the river counterfeiting my straight. There was one nice moment in the session. I flopped a set of 6s, another player turned a straight, and I rivered quads for a reasonable pot. However, the session can be summed up by the hand below.

PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.04 BB (8 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
Preflop: Psychomobil is Button with A, 7 4 folds, CO calls, Psychomobil raises, 1 fold, BB 3-bets, CO calls, Psychomobil calls
Flop: (9.5 SB) 7, 5, 6 (3 players) BB bets, 1 fold, Psychomobil raises, BB 3-bets, Psychomobil calls
Turn: (7.75 BB) A (2 players) BB bets, Psychomobil raises, BB 3-bets, Psychomobil caps, BB calls
River: (15.75 BB) 9 (2 players) BB bets, Psychomobil calls
Results: Psychomobil had A, 7 (two pair, Aces and sevens). BB had 8, 8 (straight, nine high).
Outcome: BB won $0.62
I lost $1.72 from the 202 hand session and was not a happy guy.
In the next session, similar to the last, there was one rather nice moment for me and a reasonable pot to go with it.
PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.04 BB (10 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
Preflop: Psychomobil is UTG+2 with 10, K UTG calls, 1 fold, Psychomobil raises, 2 folds, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, SB calls, 1 fold, UTG calls
Flop: (11 SB) 2, 2, 9 (5 players) SB checks, UTG checks, Psychomobil bets, 1 fold, Button calls, 2 folds
Turn: (6.5 BB) Q (2 players) Psychomobil bets, Button raises, Psychomobil 3-bets, Button calls
River: (12.5 BB) J (2 players) Psychomobil bets, Button calls
Results: Button mucked Q, 9 (two pair, Queens and nines). Psychomobil had 10, K (straight flush, King high). Outcome: Psychomobil won $0.56
Unfortunately, the deck froze up after this hand and I made a meagre $0.35 from 191 hands. I then decided that I wasn't happy with how this ended and played another 67 hands almost straight away. I made another $0.35 and that's how I ended the day.
Today began with a $0.96 profit from a fairly unremarkable 163 hand session.
Then, the next session began with a rather untimely disconnection. I'm beginning to dislike Windows, but I still think it's the least of several evils. I'm no expert but I hear that Chrome OS is pretty much Spyware OS, and that Linux is far from user friendly. And Macintosh can go fuck itself (though I mean no disrespect to the late Steve Jobs).
Anyway, I ended up playing on two tables, on which I was stupidly low and somehow managing to stay alive. I thought I ought to finish this farce and ended on a loss of $0.69 from the 204 hands.
So this put me at a win rate of 1.49 BB/100 hands since yesterday. It's certainly a profit and, if this were a normal level of play, it wouldn't be a terrible rate. However, $0.66 profit from over 1100 hands doesn't seem brilliant.
Thankfully, I decided to play another. I ran good. And this is where I come to my apology to Texas Dolly. To the great man, I respect you immensely and thank you for passing on your wisdom to us all, but today, AQ was not a bad hand. Particularly AQ. Here's why:

Preflop: Psychomobil is SB with A, Q 4 folds, MP3 calls, 2 folds, Psychomobil raises, 1 fold, MP3 calls
Flop: (5 SB) 8, Q, K (2 players) Psychomobil bets, MP3 calls Turn: (3.5 BB) Q (2 players) Psychomobil bets, MP3 calls

I finished up $1.54 from 89 hands. During this session, I was playing a freeroll qualifier for the massive Stars birthday giveaway and was tilted by being two outered twice in a row, getting it all in on the flop. So that's why I stopped at 89 hands.
But now the win rate is 4.56 BB/100 hands for these two days.
